Black History Month 2026

February 24, 2026

This Black History Month, Chicago Women in Philanthropy honors the leadership, creativity, and impact of Black communities—especially the women and gender-expansive people whose contributions continue to shape our sector and our city. At a time when Black history is being erased and DEI efforts are being rolled back across the country, acknowledging these truths and celebrating this excellence is more important than ever. CWIP remains committed to advancing racial equity, lifting up Black voices in philanthropy, and challenging structures that limit access, opportunity, and recognition. We invite our community to join us in honoring Black history not just this month, but through sustained action across our sector. If you would like to learn more or get involved in CWIP’s commitment to this work, please consider joining our Racial Equity & Social Justice Committee for an upcoming meeting or event!

Across Chicago, Black-led institutions and organizations are hosting events in celebration. The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center is one powerful example of the many opportunities to learn and connect this month. We encourage you to get out–  attend events, support local institutions, and share what inspires you with our CWIP community.
