Crafting Change: Arts Leadership in Philanthropy and Inclusion

"Crafting Change" is inspired by our commitment to educate, inspire uncommon dialogue, and bring our community together around the issues of social justice and racial equity. Join us for an interactive performance from DanceWorks Chicago, followed by a panel discussion with professionals who represent a variety of arts organizations and arts-funding organizations!

This event will feature performers and organizational leaders who will bring this topic to life by:

  • Highlighting the history of arts leading the way in social/equity movements and how that leadership has impacted our communities in Chicago
  • Sharing how artists and arts organizations are leading the way today in driving equity and inclusion
  • Discussing the roles of arts organizations, philanthropists, and funder organizations in driving social change through arts leadership

This event is for everyone interested in the arts and inclusion, not just for those working in those areas.

We'd like to note that part of this event will be an interactive, movement based performance! Participation is not required; we encourage you to come and enjoy "Crafting Change" in the way that is most comfortable for you! However, if you'd like to participate, don't forget to wear comfy shoes!

Come with an open mind and heart, and be prepared to learn something new through the lens of various arts media.

Our panelists are as follows:

  • Patricia Barretto, President and CEO, Harris Theater for Music & Dance
  • Megan Carney, Artistic Director, About Face Theatre
  • Tracie Hall, Director of Joyce Foundation's Culture Program and Founding Curator, Rootwork Gallery

This panel will be moderated by Christina Bourné, Assistant Director of Development, All Stars Project of Chicago.
