Who We Are

Mission

Chicago Women in Philanthropy (CWIP) is a volunteer-driven membership organization comprised of women from the philanthropic, corporate-giving, and nonprofit sectors who share a passionate interest in the issues facing women and girls.

At CWIP, we:

  • Support the gender lens, a tool that permits better allocation of funding for women, girls, and the programs and organizations that address their needs.
  • Strive to make all funders - individuals, foundations, government and corporate - more aware of how to analyze where their funds are going, how they are being used, and whether or not the end result is successful.
  • Understand the importance of measurable outcomes in giving and seek to reach a wider audience to inform about funding inequities.
  • Foster a networking association that puts funders and nonprofits on equal footing.
  • Bring together professional women in the nonprofit community through events, panels and fundraisers.
  • Seek to improve the capacity, knowledge and skills of the city's nonprofit leaders and their employees through our technical assistance program, thus helping nonprofits to do a better job and improve the quality of life for citizens of Chicago.
  • Advocate for better funding for women and girls' programs.
  • Seek to help the young, emerging, female leaders of the nonprofit community develop their leadership skills and find their voices.
  • Provide an inclusive, caring and open environment where our members can learn, mentor and exchange information over and above their membership activities.
