For many grantmakers, the current philanthropic landscape remains frustratingly at “Great Recession” levels—with few indications of when they can increase their funding efforts.

In these economically challenging times, how have some nonprofits not only survived—but thrived? How did a funder identify these types of fundraising success stories…and how did its awardees navigate their post-grant experiences?
